TURNTABLE-RHYTHM

exhibited
“ Play ! Digital Art Exhibition × The Creators ” - Fukuoka City Science Museum, Fukuoka, Japan, 2022

A turntable-shaped one-loop drum machine that creates beats and sound by inserting and removing pins.

Originally, all creative activities were created using physical tools, such as musical instruments for playing, staff notations and pens for composing.
Unfortunately, with rise of this new generation of digital natives, we tend to lose the physical sensations, the feel, the touch.

The TURNTABLE-RHYTHM reconnects us to the concept of time in music with a turn of the record.
By inserting pins into the holes on the turntable, one measure, you can give birth to simple music.
This new tool was developed based on post-digital methods such as DAW and MIDI. It provides new sensations as well as the intuitive pleasure of thinking / creating while actually moving your hands and of understanding the reality of your interaction.
